Below are samples of our four commonly used allocation portfolios.
Aggressive Allocation
This portfolio strategy is used for clients with longer investment horizons, and thus the ability to accept greater volatility in exchange for the potential for greater returns. This portfolio includes domestic and international stocks, bonds, and funds.
Domestic Stock Funds: 30%-40% These funds are diversified and may follow a specific investing theme, such as high dividend, large-cap, or small-cap stocks.
Real Estate: 10%-15% This category is used to balance the stock market portion of the portfolio by including a diverse investment in the U.S. real estate market including commercial and residential property.
International: 10%-25% Includes emerging markets as well as developed markets, and may include equities, bonds, and real estate.
Individual Sectors: 0%-35% Any particular sector may be targeted for specific attention at the advisor’s discretion. No more than 25% of the total portfolio may be invested in any one sector.
Bonds: 5%-15% Bond funds are used to provide stable returns to a sometimes volatile portfolio of equities. These bond funds may be convertible, investment grade, or high-yield.
Cash: 0%-100% A small amount of cash, 5%-10% is held in the portfolio in order to cover fee expense, as well as to facilitate future trading. Advisor has full authority to convert the entire portfolio to cash.
Other High-Yield Investments: 0%-25% Other investments may be added to the portfolio at the advisor’s discretion.
Medium Term Allocation
This portfolio is designed to provide less volatility than the aggressive allocation portfolio while still seeking to provide capital appreciation. There is a great reliance on dividend earnings rather than security appreciation. Along with lower volatility, lower returns are expected as well.
Domestic Stock Funds: 25%-35% A large portion of the portfolio is invested in diversified domestic stocks funds. These investments emphasize dividend income.
Real Estate: 5%-15% This category is used to balance the stock market portion of the portfolio by including a diverse investment in the U.S. real estate market including commercial and residential property.
International: 10%-20% International funds place more of an emphasis on developed markets than emerging markets.
Individual Sectors: 0%-25% Any particular sector may be targeted for specific attention at the advisor’s discretion. No more than 20% of the total portfolio may be invested in any one sector.
Bonds: 10%-25% Bond funds are used to provide stable returns to a sometimes volatile portfolio of equities.
